Soule

I have yet to find a single individual that has been equally or moreso emotionally moved by "Wind Guide You" by Jeremy Soule.  The moment I do find this person, no matter who they are, male, female, young or old, we will both be in tears discussing the song.

As an aspiring minimalist and zen student, this particular journal skin, found in the DD's today, is quite beautiful.  I was looking for a beauty like this.

I have taken to routinely examining the possessions I own and discarding that which I truly can do without; recently, it was:

- A bike helmet - brand new; never used.  Kept it around simply because I was loath to part with it for having spent $$ on it but never using it.
- My wallet.  I had owned it for three years, having it gifted to me by a friend in December of 2009. It was old, bulky, broken, and I found its replacement rather easily - a thick rubber band.
- Several speakers that I could no longer use;
- A few books that I had to finally admit to myself I had no intention of reading.  Those were almost the hardest to part with.

Ultimately I would love to be able to do away with my PC and get a Macbook Pro.  Some who have known me long enough would call me a traitor to the PC; those that have known me longer know my dabbling in Linux anyway. :giggle: I do fully intend on installing Win7 on the thing.

Why a Macbook Pro appeals to me is threefold:

- The solid aluminium unibody is absolutely sexy;
- It consolidates all of the separate components of my PC, of which there are 16+;
- The hardware specs on the new MBP's (and newer ones yet to be developed) are already past rivalling my current PC.

In doing so, I would also be able to justify obtaining a much smaller desk, or no desk at all.

Should I decide to go without a desk entirely, it would allow me to go without a chair; thus freeing up a lot of much-needed space.  That would also give me my closet back - which would allow me to hang most of my clothes and be rid of my dresser.

How easily the advantages develop.  :giggle:

Hey Guys and Gals,

My paradise - the state I'm moving to next year - is currently, almost quite literally, on fire.  There are several massive wildfires burning through the state and the state's fire fighting fund is being rapidly depleted.  Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated, and several members of my extended family are included in that number.

I'm worried. Very worried.  The images coming out of the news outlets from there right now are very scary.

My fiancee, Dai, has posted a list of links and methods that you can utilize if you can help in any way possible.

Visit her journal here.

Thank you, for any support you can give at all. :heart:

As it seems to be the pattern with me - here I am, updating this journal, after quite some time. :bucktooth:

I believe that the long spaces between updating are due to a want to create larger entries; which is amusing in that if I had updated more often - my entries would inevitably be shorter, due to having less time elapsed to discuss about.

Oh well. :dummy: I'll keep this one short, despite the length in time.

Between September 7, 2011 and June 13, 2012:

- I visited Dani-Sunshine three times; once in December, once in March, and once in May. :love:
- I went back to work with my headhunting organization in January, and left Rona in June.

Those are the only most notable changes between that time.  I went back to my headhunting firm after getting the idea of changing up my strategy.  So far, my ideas have been gaining success - in the four years I've been doing this, I'm currently at my highest level of cash flow and activity I've ever seen.

Between January and June, I moved Rona to weekends.  I did 7-day workweeks until June 9, when I quit.  7-Day workweeks aren't too particularly difficult, until the mental energy required by your weekday job absolutely demands that you take time off.

Rona was a good place to work; my job at the paint desk was regularly challenging and fun and the team I worked with was exceptional.  I made many good friends there.  Ultimately, however, it was retail, and like 99% of us that have done it, it quickly became monotonous and irritating (the customers, mostly).  So many people have utterly unrealistic expectations.

Despite my missing many of my fantastic coworkers there, I am glad to be done with it.

I read Inheritance over Christmas, and loved it to death. :love: I became a Skyrim addict in February, and am still going strong on the PC. (Wood Elf - Archer - Imperial. Bitches. ;D)   I bought a pair of wicked Bluetooth stereo headphones, which can be used for calls and music.  I luff them.

Dani-Sunshine and I are also back into our Grey's Anatomy addiction. :paranoid: Which I am quite glad for.

I also started keeping a physical journal.  It's small; not small enough to fit in a jeans pocket, but small enough to carry around and make notes in.  I'm using it strictly for personal development right now, and it's helping quite a lot.

Also, in the apartment I moved into in August, I wrote this article on my wall in my room, in pencil, in large print.  I look at it every day.  It's my only mantra.

I also finally discontinued using my giant CRT monitor and entered the 21st century, buying a 19" wide LCD.  Flanked by two small white ikea lamps on this large desk, my setup looks rather pretty. (:

Other than that, nothing interesting to report.  How's everyone else doing out there? :la:

Good morning, afternoon, and evening, everyone! (Man, it's tough keeping up with international friendships, no wonder I'm not in government. :lol:)

Wanted to post a new journal primarily to remove the old one, as The Typographer's Society is now officially a Super Group again! :la: Very pleased with all of the donations I received, in particular from a small handful of people that helped the most. :love: You guys are awesome.

After I came back from Colorado in August, I needed to get to work making a dent in my loans, and immigration, so that I could reach my target of moving to Colorado by the start of April 2012.  So far, I've made significant steps towards that goal.

I got a job at RONA - which is a big-box hardware store, similar to Home Depot or Lowes - and I'm a floor sales associate in the paints department.  And man! There is a lot to know about paint! :noes:

I would have never guessed that one could have so many different choices regarding it, but it's pretty incredible.  I'm on my sixth day today (starting at 1:45 PM), and I've already learned a lot of stuff, and I'm pretty good at my job. :love: I really like this position, because there's a certain sense of high customer satisfaction when I mix a good, deep color for someone and show it to them once it's done - I get to watch their eyes light up in excitement over the wizardry and mystery that is my paint mixers. :giggle:

Based on what I'm making and my hours, I'm going to be capable of making a significant dent - over 50% - in my loan by the end of the year. Then, the next three months (January, February, March) will be about finishing that off and starting up the immigration process.

I'm excited.  Things are rolling.

I also moved in with my best friends, and have been living with them for over three weeks now, and things are amazing between us all. :la:

Since the start of August, one of the things I've been on is this ... mad crusade.  To get rid of everything I own. :lol: And it's amazing how much stuff I threw out!

Boxes, bags, clothes, old electronics .. LOTS of them.  Cables, cards, tools I never used and sucked, more old computer crap, furniture that was falling apart, old devices that I swore I would repair one day - never did; tons of old memorabilia from times long gone and not missed, almost 90% of the files in my credenza - who the heck keeps every single travel document they ever collect? I did, apparently.

I threw out well over 300+ pounds of papers and trash, and the remarkable thing is that now, the room I am in physically cannot get messy - there's barely anything in here to make a mess. :B I mean, this went so far as to looking at my computer case, deciding it was too big, and throwing it out.  :paranoid: I took my motherboard's mounting screws, drilled them into two custom-cut 8x2x1 pieces of wood, and put the motherboard there, with the PSU next to it, and the HDD's underneath. :lol: It's pretty awesome.

So, that's what I've been up to, in a nutshell.  How's everyone else doing? :eager:
