SouleI have yet to find a single individual that has been equally or moreso emotionally moved by "Wind Guide You" by Jeremy Soule. The moment I do find this person, no matter who they are, male, female, young or old, we will both be in tears discussing the song.
The State of Colorado Needs Your Help.Hey Guys and Gals,
My paradise - the state I'm moving to next year - is currently, almost quite literally, on fire. There are several massive wildfires burning through the state and the state's fire fighting fund is being rapidly depleted. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated, and several members of my extended family are included in that number.
I'm worried. Very worried. The images coming out of the news outlets from there right now are very scary.
My fiancee, Dai, has posted a list of links and methods that you can utilize if you can help in any way possible.
Visit her journal here.
Thank you, for any support you can give at all.
Procuring Peace. As it seems to be the pattern with me - here I am, updating this journal, after quite some time.
I believe that the long spaces between updating are due to a want to create larger entries; which is amusing in that if I had updated more often - my entries would inevitably be shorter, due to having less time elapsed to discuss about.
Oh well. I'll keep this one short, despite the length in time.
Between September 7, 2011 and June 13, 2012:
- I visited =Dani-Sunshine three times; once in December, once in March, and once in May.
- I went back to work with my headhunting organization in January, and left Rona in June.
Those are the only most notable changes between that time. I went back to my headhunting firm after getting the idea of changing up my strategy. So far, my ideas have been gaining success - in the four years I've been doing this, I'm currently at my highest level of cash flow and activity I've ever seen.
Between January and
Progress.Good morning, afternoon, and evening, everyone! (Man, it's tough keeping up with international friendships, no wonder I'm not in government. )
Wanted to post a new journal primarily to remove the old one, as The Typographer's Society is now officially a Super Group again! Very pleased with all of the donations I received, in particular from a small handful of people that helped the most. You guys are awesome.
After I came back from Colorado in August, I needed to get to work making a dent in my loans, and immigration, so that I could reach my target of moving to Colorado by the start of April 2012. So far, I've made significant steps towards that goal.
I got a job at RONA - which is a big-box hardware store, similar to Home Depot or Lowes - and I'm a floor sales associate in the paints department. And man! There is a lot to know about paint!
I would have never guessed that one could have so many different choices regarding it,
Points Donation for The Typographer's SocietyHey everyone!
The group that (most of) you know I run, The Typographer's Society, is a group running along great - having just broken over 1,000 members. It's a Super Group, but it's going to lose Super status in less than a month from now.
I've asked all of the members in the group to donate a small amount to help fund a new 12 month Super Status. This will help me to continue offering my members the best experience I can with this group.
Since I've got over 1,000 members, if everyone donated just five points, we would have enough to pay for the premium status. Some of my members, however, won't be able to donate - so I'm asking you guys. (: If anyone can help donate to my donation pool (on the front of my userpage), you'll be helping out those members of The Typographer's Society that can't donate any points right now. 5 points, or 1 point - every little bit helps.
Hope everyone is doing fantastic and enjoying summer! Thanks in advance to
I'm Engaged! + Many Other UpdatesI seem to have this issue making journal updates - it's almost getting to be a yearly thing. But since the last one was in September 2010, I'm going to do my best to post this one so it'll only be 3/4 of the year. Haha.
So many things have happened! I have lots to tell you all. Sit, sit, children, and listen.
So: We left off from the summer of 2010, which was amazing, and I went back to Toronto. Immediately upon my return to Toronto, I was supposed to keep working at my previous summer job - just pick back up where I left off - but I got a call from an old headhunting colleague of mine, and joined forces with him in a new company he was running.
I loved it - I was back in the game, making calls, having conversations, doing research. But even better, this time, I was a trusted advisor - I was giving my colleague, now my boss, but always my friend first - important information on how to run the company and make decisions.
Typographic Maps by AxisMapsAxis Maps is pleased to announce the release of our mapping / art project Typographic Maps. Created as a labor of love, these unique maps accurately depict the streets and highways, parks, neighborhoods, coastlines, and physical features of the city using nothing but type. Only by manually weaving together thousands upon thousands of carefully placed words does the full picture of the city emerge. Every single piece of type was manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete for each map. Take a look at our blog for more on how these maps were made.
Oogashaka, Ooga Ooga!Whoa. Could this possibly be a journal update - from me?
Apparently it is. How exciting!
I do warn you now though - long journal is looooooooooong. I know my bestest watchers will read it all though, because you all love me so much.
Lol. It's been quite a while since I've updated this - as you all may know; the last one being in March of this year. Holy mother, have things been an adventure since then, and there is lots to talk about, so please, do come and take a seat.
Let's start with back in those months. In early April, I decided to quit my job at the headhunting firm I had been working for for 2 1/2 years. This was due to a number of reasons, but ultimately wound down to that I was loathing coming into work every day. I needed something new and exciting, something with great people, a great atmosphere, and more money.
I found what I was looking for in an outdoor proper

As some people have known, I've been having a few Giveaways on Tumblr this season. There's always people here on Deviantart who say they can't participate because they don't Tumble :[.
So I decided I will have one last giveaway for my watchers here on Deviantart.
I'll use a random number generator ( on this journals favourite list) and the winner will get one throw pillow of my artwork of their choice:
Or anything else in my Featured Folder on a throw pillow case example below the obnoxious thumbnails :3

How to Make a Good Profile PageHow to Make a Good Profile Page
Learn some helpful tips to ensure your profile page is appealing to the masses!
written by `miontre for Community Week in %projecteducate.
Quite simply, the way you present yourself is important. People make decisions about other people based on the way they present themselves. You know this is true because you do it yourself. There is no shame in this, because it's natural human behavior: we simply do not have the time to make decisions about each and every person we encounter from scratch, so we have to make some decisions based on how they present themselves. One such judgments made in this way is how worthwhile a person is - through this, we don't learn about a personality, but rather how long we are going to hold interest in this person.
If there's one thing which makes me uninterested in a person's profile, resulting in my immediate departure, it's when there's too much junk and mess on there - a result of careless presentation. :l
Don't you EVER give upPlease play the song while viewing this journal. I've tried my hardest to create a, well, a kind of experience for you. The music plays a crucial role in delivering that experience and a very important message. I promise you won't regret it. Just make sure the whole journal is loaded, turn on your speakers, push play, and start scrolling. The song is about 4 minutes so keep that in mind as you scroll. Please share this journal and help spread it's message!

Have you ever wondered who the most popular characters are at DeviantART?
I liked $danlev's recent post on Trending deviantART Search Terms in October. It got me thinking about popular characters on DeviantART in terms of deviation count. I'm going to need some help with this research project.
Help Wanted, Reward Offered
Search for a character and submit the number of deviations found. You can post a screenshot or just put the number in a comment. Find a Top-10 character and get 100 points. Find a Top-50 character and get 10 points. Each person that faves this journal will get 1 point. If multiple people submit the same character, the first person gets the points.

How To Use Typography Effectively in Web DesignTypography is everywhere across the Web, so many different applications and missions all relying on their chosen fonts to cleanly and legibly convey the bulk of our web-based projects over to our readers. However, from time to time, we notice a wrench thrown into the works, gumming things up and interfering with our message transfers. This is something that as designers and developers for the web, that we have undoubtedly experienced, and something that today, we are here with some tips to hopefully prevent from happening again.

^Nyx-Valentine arrived in our community and started whipping everyone into a frenzy with her relentless desire to bring the Artistic Nude and Fetish galleries to the fore. 9 years later, and it's safe to say that Nyx is not only a leader as a photographer in these galleries, but she has also established herself as a much saught after model. ^...
